Quantum of Solace Trailer
The Quantum of Solace trailer was released today, or at least the teaser trailer. We don't learn much from it other than M is as stroppy as in Casino Royale, Bond and M interrogate Mr White and there is a chase with an Aston Martin. It looks pretty good though, with some nice fight scenes - as in the previous movie.

On location with Quantum of Solace
After some ocation work in London and the 007 Stage at Pinewood in January, the entire first unit moved to Panama City old town to shoot on location, followed by further location work 80 km away in Colon.
Following the Panama shot, cast and crew flew to Chile for scenes at the ESO’s (European Organisation for Astronomical Research in the Southern Hemisphere) Very large Telescope atop the 2,600 meter high Cerro Paranal mountain in the Atacama Desert. Finally, additional footage was taken off the coast of Panama in mid-March.
After central and south America the production moved to Italy to shoot what seems like it will be high octane action. These scenes take place in Siena and around Lake Garda, where firstly an Aston Martin was written off when the driver crashed off the road into the lake, esxcaping from 50 meters; and then a stuntman was badly injured when a stunt went awry during filming by the second unit; despite serious head injuries, he is currently recovering.
Following Italy they moved to Austria for scenes shot at a floating opera.

Tom Ford for Quantum of Solace
Not much to report at the moment regarding filming although it appears that Tom Ford will be providing suits for Bond. While I'm thinking of it though there is a great product from Casino Royale which any Bond girl would love - an Algerian love knot necklace inspired by the Sophie Hatley design worn by Vesper.

Filming in Panama
In the last post we reported that there had been no problems on set, as reported by the tabloids, which claimed that the film makers and actors were having to dodge bullets while filming.
Meanwhile they've been getting down to work, with a scene featuring hundreds of extras being shot overnight and Daniel Craig has been busy doing more stunt work while shooting a fight scene.
Other than that there is not much to report; Anatole Taubman's character has been confirmed as a henchman called Elvis and a UK company is reportedly supplying a parachute to the production.
More news when it arrives.

EON denies filming problems in Panama
The tabloids have been awash with stories of gang warfare on the sets of Quantum of Solace while shooting in Panama, with them claiming that actors are having to avoid a hail of bullets as rival gangs take out their grievances, claiming that police shot dead one gang member who claimed to be a union member.
However, a bit of investigation dispels this story - police did shoot dead a union leader, in mass protests in the construction sector about building conditions and safety on Panama - absolutely nothing to do with Quantum of Solace.
The tabloid reports also said that filming is struggling to stay on schedule and that insurance companies were pressuring them to pull out and rewrite the story so it could be shot elsewhere.
To clear up these fabrications, Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli have released a joint statement:
"The filming of 'Quantum of Solace', with director Marc Forster at the helm, is on schedule and will continue as planned in Panama. None of the cast or crew have ever been in danger. Reports of troubles with gangs are untrue. The protests are to do with the fatal shooting of a construction worker in Colon and are unrelated to our filming activities. Our cast and crew have not been threatened and no thefts or muggings have occurred.
These scurrilous and irresponsible reports in The Daily Star have caused distress to the UK families of our filming unit."

Bond 22 is Quantum of Solace
Believe it or not it is now just 8 days since Bond 22 was officially named Quantum of Solace at a press conference at Pinewood studios, although word leaked out and the big Bond related websites had already reported that Sony had registered quantumofsolace.com.Journalists were invited to the sets to watch some of the shooting; however, Bond pictures are always veiled in a level of secrecy that belongs to MI6 and cast members were careful not to spill too many beans about the plot details.
As production progresses we'll bring you some details here, but as we don't aim to follow each piece of breaking news you can link to some of the other websites that will be covering Quantum of Solace - you'll find them in the column to the right.
